Art and craft has the ability to educate our children about complex concepts in a meaningful and unrestricted manner. Arguably one of the most rich and dynamic pieces of learning that can come from art and craft is the ability to explore various cultures from around the world. In doing so, educators can assist children to feel a sense of belonging as their unique and diverse talents and heritage is valued. From this learning a foundation is built for the educational program (Guide to the National Quality Standard pg. 10).

We could not have said it better ourselves. Art and craft, and creativity as a whole, is all about having fun. It is the opportunity to let one’s mind wander and express these wanderings through various mediums. This month we will focus on art and craft and all that it brings to the lives of our children.
As educators, extending children’s learning can sometimes prove difficult. When you run out of ideas where can you turn to? Art and craft is a great solution. It offers open ended resources that all promote development of concentration, fine motor, creativity and communication, amongst other valuable learning.
