Putting it all together - Heath as a whole

Monday, 31 October 2016 7:05:00 pm Australia/Sydney

Over the past month we have looked at the various aspects of children’s health and wellbeing in detail. Over this time is has become evident that each and every aspect is linked and intertwined and all contribute to an overall sense of wellbeing and health.

It is important that we do not place the spotlight on one aspect of child health and wellbeing at the detriment to other areas. Being aware and attuned to children’s health, wellbeing and development as a whole will promote learning is a fun and nourishing way.

But how? How do you truly assess your child’s health in all areas?

According to the American Academy of Paediatrics, free play is essential for brain development. While children engage in free play they have the opportunity to develop and enhance their cognitive, spiritual, physical, social, and emotional wellbeing.

We will leave you this month with an important point to ponder.

“Children have the right to relax and play, and to join in a wide range of cultural, artistic and other recreational activities.”

The message is simple. Play is vital to health and development.
