Official Launch: “Helping Young Children Handle Frustration and Anger”

Thursday, 28 July 2016 7:30:47 pm Australia/Sydney

Critical, irritable, dominating, little self-control, oppositional, angry, frustrated, annoyed, what is your child’s “Twitch”?

Last night some of the Educational Experience team were fortunate enough to attend a unique event at Dr John Irvine’s R.E.A.D clinic on the Central Coast of New South Wales to celebrate the launch of “Helping Young Children Handle Frustration and Anger” and the companion resources “The Very Frustrated Monster” and Twitch the Monster of Frustration.

The room was filled with clinicians, parents, families, business owners, politicians and educators from OOSH, Goodstart Early Learning, private centres and Catholic schools. Standing together for a common cause, the group intently listened to the passionate words of Dr John about the importance of developing emotional intelligence in our children, and how his down to earth, sensible program could be easily incorporated into the current curriculums.

Dr John provided practical examples of how educators, parents and most importantly children, can cope with one of the most difficult emotions, frustration, or as Dr John calls it “Twitch”. He went on to explain some of the different types of “twitches” that children identify with and how his newly developed program has seen some outstanding results in Early Childhood centres across the Central Coast.

Federal Member for Robertson, Lucy Wicks MP, and member for Wyong Mr David Harris attended the night reinforcing the importance of getting the Worry Woos program into schools across the state.
