Holistic Health month is about children's health and wellbeing as a whole. Quite often we can look at the obvious parts of children’s development like physical and cognitive, however, in order to truly observe the holistic health of a child we must consider other factors as co contributors to health and wellbeing.

When we consider health holistically we look at a range of factors including fine motor, gross motor, religion, tradition, socio – economic factors, ethnicity, culture, values and genetics.  In doing so we get a better grasp on the child and how we can extends, develop and assist with their overall health.

This month we will look at the main health concepts including

  1. Spiritual
  2. Social and Emotional
  3. Physical
  4. Mental/Cognitive
  5. We will also explore how they all interrelate and paint the holistic picture of health and wellbeing in children.
